Chapter 2

After 2 ½ months of training, both Karen and Lin where ready for battle, so their managers, Melanie Castillo and the mysterious person, talked by the phone and they were agreeing on the day, time and place.

“So, do you agree on the terms for this fight miss Castillo?” the mysterious person spoke with a somewhat threating tone, a very bad move because it doesn’t know the person who is negotiating.

“Oh yes, I agree that this is going to be an eight round fight following the WBC rules with 8 Oz red gloves that are going to be checked twice so that there is no alteration on them, with judges that the very WBC is going to suggest that BOTH you and me are going to accept and last but not least, the split is going to be 50-50”, Melanie answered.

“Hey those are not the terms I told you a-” the mysterious person is interrupted.

“Listen buddy, your terms were only going to help you and not Lin, don’t try to deny it. I know who you are, and if you don’t want me to expose you, you are going to accept these terms, otherwise you don’t want to know what is going to happen to you”, Melanie put the mysterious person against the corner because she knew what spots to hit, the mysterious person agreed and later they meet to sign the contract in front of a WBC committee.

On that same night, Melanie starts thinking about this mysterious person who has been stalking and causing nothing but trouble to Karen ever since she became a fulltime boxer and started to modeling as part-time.

“Your life went down because of Karen’s actions, but she did the best for getting away from you, now you are trying to destroy the great image she has been developing just to get revenge. Don’t worry, your plan will fail, Karen has proven to me and everybody that she can overcome any obstacle, also, I am pretty sure that Lin thinks the same way of you, I just hope she doesn’t make any dumb move during tomorrow’s press conference…”

“Speaking of Lin, is a good thing Karen is fighting her, Lin has some great skill that can help Karen improve even more; that way, Karen can have the experience she needs in order to fight those two other girls to whom she lost… But right now Lin comes first; let’s see how well Karen does against her”.

In the next day, a press conference has been called previous to the fight between Karen and Lin. The reporters where taking a lot of pictures of Karen and Lin, however, most photos were taken to Karen because of her modeling skills and Lin was not too happy about it, but deep inside she understood the reason and she didn’t made a fuss about it.

“So tell us Miss Karen, what do you think of tomorrow’s fight?” one reporter asked.

“Well, at first I thought that Lin was just a blabbermouth, but after I watched some of her fights I was really surprised with her speed and skills, so I trained as hard as I could in order to be ready for this moment. I have very good condition to hold on this 8 round bout, no matter how much damage I take. Also, I can assure you that this fight is going to be remembered and it will end in a KO with me being the winner”. Karen answered very politely proving she knows how to handle the media.

“And what about you miss Lin? What do you think of tomorrow’s fight? Have you thought of a strategy or sort of?” the same reporter asked.

Lin thinks for a moment “This is a match I have been waiting for a long time, 2 ½ months is a lot of time of preparation for a fight, but I have to say, this match was made because of one reason”.

Every reporter looked at Lin and they prepared their ears, pens, recorders and cameras for Lin’s comment.

“Karen is just a show off boxer who only picks weak boxers in order to prove she is good, which she isn’t, you can all check all of Karen fights and you will see that there are not so good boxers on her win record, and when we step into that ring, I am gonna expose her for the fraud she truly is!” Lin answered.

“But miss Lin, that could be truth for Karen’s first two fights, but later she fought very good boxers and managed to win, she even had a hard time fighting Kazumi Hasegawa, one of Japan’s youngest and best fighters and that fight ended in a draw, how can you say that Karen is a fraud?” Another reporter asks.

“Oh sure, take Karen side I am sure she paid you or she giggled you with that cute face of hers, I mean that is what she does best, use her good looks so that she always wins (Karen is starting to get mad for Lin responses), but don’t worry when I finish her off, she will quit being a model and start working in a fast food restaurant”, Lin answered and the reporters where speechless of those answers and the mysterious person, who was seating next to Lin, smiled at her responses.

Before everything starts to lose control, the announcer told that Karen and Lin should shake hands in order to end this conference, they both agreed, they shake hands but they were squeezing very tight that you hear some bones cracking, after that, the announcer ended the conference and both girls exit the press room.

That very same night, Lin had something troubling her, the mysterious person asked what the problem was and she stared at it with furious eyes. “Listen, YOU ARE FIRED!” The mysterious person was shocked to hear those words from Lin.
